Used Netbooks

This is an overview of Hewlett Packard’s series of netbooks, labelled the Mini series (wonder if they and Dell consulted each other before thinking up the name!) Some of the models are marketed under the Compaq or HP Compaq brand for reasons known only to them.

There are dozens of model numbers, this is an attempt (probably failed) to provide an explanation of them:

• HP Mini 1000 series (a home version of the 2133 Mini-Note PC business netbook)
• HP Mini 110 – 10.1″ Atom-based series, released first half of 2009, includes the HP Mini 1101 and supercedes the 1000. Confuses matters by adding variant numbers like 1030, 1012, 1109, 1137, these are all variant 110 models as far as we can tell.
• HP Mini 210 – released late 2009, includes the 2102, features Windows 7 and comes in an “HD Edition” too.
• HP Mini-Note 2140 (updated version of the 2133).
• HP Mini 311 – the first netbook based on the nVidia Ion platform, supporting DirectX 10 and 1080 HD video!

Also:

• HP Compaq Mini 700 – 10.2″ netbook aimed squarely at consumers, came out early 2009, apparently more-or-less just a UK version of the Mini 1000, with lower resolution than the 1000, which WAS later released in the UK
